chevy driving tips

tip

Pump up your tires:

Underinflated tires wear down more qusickly and lower your car’s gas mileage.  Your gas mileage may improve by as much as 15% when your tires are properly inflated.

tip

Replace air filters:

Keep a close eye on your engines ‘s air filter. When the end air filter clogs with dirt, dust and bugs, it causes your engine to work harder and your car becomes less fuel-efficient.

Replacing your clogged air filter could improve your gas mileage by as much as 10%!

tip

Use a gas price checker:
The price of gas at gas stations can vary by as much as twenty cents per gallon and prices change on a daily basis. Use a little program like this one to help you find the cheapest gas in your area just by sticking in your zip code.

tip

Don't Speed:

Travel at the speed limit and use cruise control whenever you can. Cruise control is the best but not practical in stop and go traffic.  Stick to the speed limit and shift into a higher gear when possible.

Keep a steady speed in the city. Most signal lights are set to the speed limit stated. When you stop and idle, put your automatic transmission in neutral.

tip

Get the junk out of your trunk:

The rule of thumb is fore every extra 100 pounds you lose 1 mpg!!! Maybe it could be the next diet craze, “lose weight and save gas”!

Drive Smart

Don't waste fuel by idling your car while sitting in that drive-thru while ordering fast food. Instead, park and go inside. Don't let your vehicle idle as you wait outside the elementary school to pick up your children. Idling uses more fuel than turning the engine off, waiting for your youngsters and then restarting the engine.

When you're in slow city traffic, keep the air conditioner off. Roll down the windows and open the air vents to keep you and your riders comfortable.

Go for the shade!

The hot summer sun that make the inside of you car feel like a sauna also zaps fuel from you gas tank!
